Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has accused Israel of attempting to undermine the recently negotiated US-Iran peace agreement, warning that any effort to reignite conflict could push the Middle East into another dangerous period of instability. He made the remarks during a joint appearance with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul.
Erdo?an said lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without the active participation of regional countries. He argued that diplomacy should remain the priority and urged all parties to avoid actions that could jeopardize the fragile progress made through recent negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
The Turkish leader strongly criticized Israel's recent military operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, claiming they have increased tensions across the region. He warned that any attempt to derail the peace process would have serious consequences not only for the Middle East but also for global security and economic stability.
Turkey has consistently supported diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran and has welcomed international efforts aimed at reducing military tensions. Ankara believes maintaining dialogue is essential for protecting regional trade routes, energy supplies, and broader economic cooperation.
During the same visit, Turkey and Pakistan also announced plans to deepen cooperation in energy, transportation, information technology, defense, and critical minerals. Both governments reaffirmed their goal of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
Analysts say Erdo?an's latest comments reflect Turkey's desire to play a larger diplomatic role in shaping the future of the Middle East. With negotiations between the United States and Iran continuing and regional tensions remaining high, Ankara is positioning itself as a strong advocate for dialogue over military confrontation.
